Summertime! ~ isn’t it supposed to be easy?….

A couple of weeks ago my post would have been much more elated than it is today! Thinking we’d turned the corner on the pandemic and were able to frolic about with each other on these glorious summer days, we’re stepping back a few paces and covering up again. That’s ok with me, but it does put a dampener on showing off our lovely smiles in public! On the other hand, I’m happy to still be smiling amidst all the chaos the world is going through right now.

In the midst of all this doom and gloom, there are pockets of safe gatherings happening with stellar live music to bring us a little cheer! I didn’t realize how much I’d missed listening to fingers playing strings, basses booming, the beating of a drum, and voices filling the air in harmony, as I danced barefoot on the grass and sipped on a glass of ice cold Rosé! The highlights were Thievery Corporation at Stern Grove, Ozomatli at Nevada City Fairgrounds and Free Peoples at Hopmonk Tavern.

On a side note, I want to send a big shout out to KC Turner for his relentless promotion and organization of up close and personal shows that he’s got lined up for the rest of the year at Hopmonk in Novato. He managed to keep live music alive and safe during the pandemic with back yard concerts in the most unlikely of places. Good on you, KC! I like you, too!

Mimi & Gabe Pirard are ready!

Are you?

Here’s a little something from sister and brother duo Mimi & Gabe Pirard!
EventNomads (aka SoozMusic) is happy to be representing these two wonderful musicians and long time friends as they break out of the pandemic restraints to bring some laughter and great music to you all. We are now taking bookings for Spring and Summer.
Please send us a note if you have an event you’d like to book them for or simply have them play in your back garden or front porch while we ease back into having larger gatherings. You can reach us here: sooz@eventnomads.com

If you prefer a little French and frivolity with your music ~:

Getting back in the saddle!

Who else is ready for live music, dancing, staying out late and having long conversations with friends and strangers without worrying about keeping our distance! It feels like we’ll be able to do all of this again soon. EventNomads has had a couple of private gigs booked this week that feel like an exciting start to the end!

Whether it’s in the Spring or the Summer, please consider booking a band to celebrate with you when you gather! To peace, love and good music! Cheers!

It’s time to dust off your guitars!

SonoMusette joins SoozMusic!

SoozMusic is extremely excited to welcome and introduce SonoMusette!

SonoMusette recaptures the moody, melancholic sound and spirit of mid twentieth-century Paris. Inspired by the great performers of the era, such as Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Django Reinhardt along with contemporary artists such as Zaz. This music has retained it’s power to charm and transport audiences, and SonoMusette taps that nostalgia with artistry in vocals and instrumentation.

The band features French singer Mimi Pirard whose renditions of these timeless French classics provide a freshness and excitement that is contemporary, yet faithful to the spirit and tradition of the original versions. Few singers are capable of doing justice to Piaf and Brel, and even fewer can match Pirard’s mesmerizing interpretation and powerful delivery. The band is comprised of period instrumentation featuring Robert Lunceford – accordion, Isaac Vandeveer – guitar and bass, Jan Martinelli – upright bass and piano, and Richard Andrews on drums.

If you would like to book SonoMusette at your event, please be in touch: sooz@soozmusic.com

Puretone Resonate, Spain –

This was a launch party like no other!

I arrived at Space Mountain in the sleepy village of Albuñuelas, Spain on a hot, arid day in September. The home recording studio belonging to Youth sits atop the side of a massive breathtaking gorge that runs through the center of this region, reminding us of the power of nature.

I settled in for the week and awaited the arrival of Youth’s guests for our launching of Puretone Resonate Festival. As each guest arrived, the house awoke to the music of old friends reconnecting and eager excitement for the upcoming weekend. The energy grew each day until it literally exploded in a flurry of creativity from dawn to dusk and beyond. The boundaries of night and day melted into one as the music played ceaselessly flowing from indoors to outdoors and back again. Workshops set up in the living room, recording sessions in the studio, healers in the ‘hobbit’ rooms, chefs in the kitchen, gongs by the pool, stages below olive groves, chill spaces overlooking the canyon, the full moon peaked and the new moon rose, as the giant sized Lillu flags blew in the breeze!

I saw so many old friends from my days in London and made some wonderful new ones throughout the weekend. I even met the only other Sooz I know. Quite extraordinary, really to meet my namesake and similar kinda lady! Feels like a twin, and we had fun playing on that one!  I believe we will all be connected on a very special level because of this gathering. Our bond is now sealed in a way I can’t quite describe!

Thank you, Youth et al for a fabulous journey. I look forward to the next ~

Been a while!

Wow, I can’t believe the time has flown by so quickly and here we are in Spring again. I’ve been working on a couple of festivals out of state and out of country, and keeping my business as an Ayurvedic Practitioner going, too. If you aren’t sure what I do with that, check out my blog at Melina’s Garden

For my Northern Californian friends, The CRUX will be playing at the Cloverdale Arts Alliance on April 21st at 7pm. Here’s a link for more info if you’d like to support this Arts group: Cloverdale Arts Alliance

“The Crux – a mad scientist’s music laboratory, where songs and stories are brought to life amid a sea of bubbles, confetti, and rattling chains. Carnival barker and street preacher, Josh Windmiller leads the troupe of multi-instrumentalists on a musical Odyssey from New Orleans brass to Gypsy Jazz to Northern California barn stomp.”

If you are up the coast a bit, you can find FREE PEOPLES playing at Caspar Inn, on Saturday, April 30th at 8:30pm. Join Free Peoples and spend the night in Caspar! You can find more info here: Caspar Inn
