Summertime! ~ isn’t it supposed to be easy?….

A couple of weeks ago my post would have been much more elated than it is today! Thinking we’d turned the corner on the pandemic and were able to frolic about with each other on these glorious summer days, we’re stepping back a few paces and covering up again. That’s ok with me, but it does put a dampener on showing off our lovely smiles in public! On the other hand, I’m happy to still be smiling amidst all the chaos the world is going through right now.

In the midst of all this doom and gloom, there are pockets of safe gatherings happening with stellar live music to bring us a little cheer! I didn’t realize how much I’d missed listening to fingers playing strings, basses booming, the beating of a drum, and voices filling the air in harmony, as I danced barefoot on the grass and sipped on a glass of ice cold Rosé! The highlights were Thievery Corporation at Stern Grove, Ozomatli at Nevada City Fairgrounds and Free Peoples at Hopmonk Tavern.

On a side note, I want to send a big shout out to KC Turner for his relentless promotion and organization of up close and personal shows that he’s got lined up for the rest of the year at Hopmonk in Novato. He managed to keep live music alive and safe during the pandemic with back yard concerts in the most unlikely of places. Good on you, KC! I like you, too!

So much to do, and so little time!

There’s always a great choice of live music in NorCal. Here are some ideas for the weekend!

Brothers Gadjo are playing at Christys on the Square in Santa Rosa tomorrow, Thursday!

Beso Negro and The Stages of Sleep will be at Hopmonk in Sebastopol on Saturday, April 26th.

Free Peoples & Brothers Gadjo will be teaming up for a great show in Oakland at The Legionnaire Saloon on Saturday the 26th, too.

Please repost if one of these gigs is in your area!
